In the Spring of 2010, a group of highly motivated sportspeople started a weekly outdoor YiQuan (Mind Boxing) class, in Clingendael park.
Out of this group the idea of SportMindz originated; a foundation which would use the binding power of sport to create a better society.
As time progressed, different sports and forms of exercise deemed to suit SportMindz’ mission were added to the repetoire: they had to be conducive to the physical and mental resilience of the practitioner, good for body and mind and with attention to and space for the social and binding aspect. Examples of these are Systema, Cuban Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
In addition, youth activities began, such as lessons in Judo for children from ages 4 to 12 and demonstrations of resilience and self defence, both at the International School of The Hague.
In 2013, SportMindz started collaborating with HV & CV Quick. In doing so, SportMindz entered a new phase. Youth education and with it, the collaboration with schools in the area, would play a greater role. The sports on offer for adults and senior citizens would also be broadened and intensified.
